तथा भारत धर्मेषु धर्मज्ञैर इह दृश्यते अहॊरात्रं महाराज तुल्यं संवत्सरेण हि ॥ ३-४९-२१ ॥
'O Bharata, it is said by those well-versed in morality that one day and night, O great prince, is equivalent to an entire year.' ॥ 3-49-21 ॥
english translation
तथैव वेद वचनं शरूयते नित्यदा विभॊ संवत्सरॊ महाराज पूर्णॊ भवति कृच्छ्रतः ॥ ३-४९-२२ ॥
'The Vedic text, O exalted one, also states that a year is considered equivalent to a day when spent in the observance of certain difficult vows.' ॥ 3-49-22 ॥
english translation
यदि वेदाः परमाणं ते दिवसाद ऊर्ध्वम अच्युत तरयॊदश समाः कालॊ जञायतां परिनिष्ठितः ॥ ३-४९-२३ ॥
'O thou of unfading glory, if the Vedas are your authority, then consider the span of a day and a little more as equivalent to thirteen years.' ॥ 3-49-23 ॥

कालॊ दुर्यॊधनं हन्तुं सानुबन्धम अरिंदम एकाग्रां पृथिवीं सर्वां पुरा राजन करॊति सः ॥ ३-४९-२४ ॥
'O vanquisher of foes, this is the moment to slay Duryodhana and his supporters. Otherwise, O king, he will soon bring the entire earth under his command.' ॥ 3-49-24 ॥

एवं बरुवाणं भीमं तु धर्मराजॊ युधिष्ठिरः उवाच सान्त्वयन राजा मूर्ध्न्य उपाघ्राय पाण्डवम ॥ ३-४९-२५ ॥
'Thus addressed by Bhima, Yudhishthira, the king of dharma, consoled him by gently placing his hand on Bhima's head.' ॥ 3-49-25 ॥
