सर्वान अहं हनिष्यामि धार्तराष्ट्रान स सौबलान दुर्यॊधनं च कर्णं च यॊ वान्यः परतियॊत्स्यते ॥ ३-४९-१६ ॥
'I will slay all the sons of Dhritarashtra, including Duryodhana, Karna, and anyone else who dares to oppose me.' ॥ 3-49-16 ॥
english translation
मया परशमिते पश्चात तवम एष्यसि वनात पुनः एवं कृते न ते दॊषॊ भविष्यति विशां पते ॥ ३-४९-१७ ॥
'And after I have slain all our foes, you may return to the woods. By doing so, O king, no fault will be attributed to you.' ॥ 3-49-17 ॥
english translation
यज्ञैश च विविधैस तात कृतं पापम अरिंदम अवधूय महाराज गच्छेम सवर्गम उत्तमम ॥ ३-४९-१८ ॥
'(Or if any sin be yours), O mighty monarch and vanquisher of foes, by cleansing it through various sacrifices, we may ascend to a higher heaven, O sire.' ॥ 3-49-18 ॥
english translation
एवम एतद भवेद राजन यदि राजा न बालिशः अस्माकं दीर्घसूत्रः सयाद भवान धर्मपरायणः ॥ ३-४९-१९ ॥
'This outcome may indeed come to pass if our king proves neither unwise nor procrastinating. You are, however, virtuous.' ॥ 3-49-19 ॥
english translation
निकृत्या निकृतिप्रज्ञा हन्तव्या इति निश्चयः न हि नैकृतिकं हत्वा निकृत्या पापम उच्यते ॥ ३-४९-२० ॥
'Truly, the deceitful must be vanquished by cunning; to slay the deceitful through deceit is not considered sinful.' ॥ 3-49-20 ॥
