[स] वयतिक्रमॊ ऽयं सुमहांस तवया राजन्न उपेक्षितः समर्थेनापि यन मॊहात पुत्रस ते न निवारितः ॥ ३-४८-११ ॥
'Sanjaya said, "This has been your great fault, O King: though capable, you did not prevent your son from his actions out of affection."' ॥ 3-48-11 ॥

शरुत्वा हि निर्जितान दयूते पाण्डवान मधुसूदनः तवरितः काम्यके पार्थान समभावयद अच्युतः ॥ ३-४८-१२ ॥
'The slayer of Madhu, that hero of enduring glory, upon hearing of the Pandavas' defeat at dice, quickly went to the woods of Kamyaka to console them.' ॥ 3-48-12 ॥

दरुपदस्य तथा पुत्रा धृष्टद्युम्नपुरॊगमाः विराटॊ धृष्टकेतुश च केकयाश च महारथाः ॥ ३-४८-१३ ॥
'Draupadi's sons, led by Dhrishtadyumna, along with Virata, Dhrishtaketu, and the mighty Kekaya warriors, all made their way there."' ॥ 3-48-13 ॥

तैश च यत कथितं तत्र दृष्ट्वा पार्थान पराजितान चारेण विदितं सर्वं तन मया वेदितं च ते ॥ ३-४८-१४ ॥
'I learned everything that was said by these warriors upon seeing the Pandavas defeated at dice through our spies. I have conveyed all of this to you, O King.' ॥ 3-48-14 ॥

समागम्य वृतस तत्र पाण्डवैर मधुसूदनः सारथ्ये फल्गुनस्याजौ तथेत्य आह च तान हरिः ॥ ३-४८-१५ ॥
'When the slayer of Madhu met the Pandavas, they asked him to be the charioteer of Phalguna in battle. Responding to their request, Hari himself said, 'So be it.'' ॥ 3-48-15 ॥
