ततॊ ऽरजुनः शरवर्षं किराते समवासृजत तत परसन्नेन मनसा परतिजग्राह शंकरः ॥ ३-४०-२६ ॥
'Then Arjuna released a shower of arrows at Kirata (the hunter). Shankara (Lord Shiva) received it with a pleased mind.' ॥ 3-40-26 ॥
english translation
मुहूर्तं शरवर्षं तत परतिगृह्य पिनाकधृक अक्षतेन शरीरेण तस्थौ गिरिर इवाचलः ॥ ३-४०-२७ ॥
'Yet the wielder of the Pinaka, after withstanding that torrent of arrows for a moment, stood unharmed, unshaken like a mountain.' ॥ 3-40-27 ॥
english translation
स दृष्ट्वा बाणवर्षं तन मॊघी भूतं धनंजयः परमं विस्मयं चक्रे साधु साध्व इति चाब्रवीत ॥ ३-४०-२८ ॥
'Seeing that shower of arrows rendered ineffective, Dhananjaya (Arjuna) was greatly amazed and exclaimed, 'Excellent! Excellent!'' ॥ 3-40-28 ॥
english translation
अहॊ ऽयं सुकुमाराङ्गॊ हिमवच्छिखरालयः गाण्डीवमुक्तान नाराचान परतिगृह्णात्य अविह्वलः ॥ ३-४०-२९ ॥
'Alas, this delicate-limbed mountaineer, dwelling on the lofty peaks of the Himalayas, bears the arrows shot from the Gandiva without flinching!' ॥ 3-40-29 ॥
english translation
कॊ ऽयं देवॊ भवेत साक्षाद रुद्रॊ यक्षः सुरेश्वरः विद्यते हि गिरिश्रेष्ठे तरिदशानां समागमः ॥ ३-४०-३० ॥
'Who is this? Is he Rudra himself, some other god, a Yaksha, or an Asura? The gods do sometimes descend upon the peaks of the Himalayas.' ॥ 3-40-30 ॥
