एष पार्थॊ महातेजा हिमवत्पृष्ठम आश्रितः उग्रे तपसि दुष्पारे सथितॊ धूमाययन दिशः ॥ ३-३९-२६ ॥
'This son of Pritha, endowed with immense energy, is performing the most arduous ascetic austerities on the slopes of the Himavat. The intensity of his penance is causing the earth to emit smoke all around, O supreme deity.'' ॥ 3-39-26 ॥
english translation
तस्य देवेश न वयं विद्मः सर्वे चिकीर्षितम संतापयति नः सर्वान असौ साधु निवार्यताम ॥ ३-३९-२७ ॥
'We do not know the purpose for which he is undertaking these austere practices. Nevertheless, his asceticism is causing us distress. It is fitting that you, O Lord, take measures to address this situation.' ॥ 3-39-27 ॥

[महेष्वर] शीघ्रं गच्छत संहृष्टा यथागतम अतन्द्रिताः अहम अस्य विजानामि संकल्पं मनसि सथितम ॥ ३-३९-२८ ॥
'[Maheshvara (Shiva) said:] Go quickly, delighted, the way you came, without laziness. I know the resolve that is fixed in his mind.' ॥ 3-39-28 ॥

नास्य सवर्गस्पृहा का चिन नैश्वर्यस्य न चायुषः यत तव अस्य काङ्क्षितं सर्वं तत करिष्ये ऽहम अद्य वै ॥ ३-३९-२९ ॥
'I am aware of Arjuna’s true desire. He seeks neither heaven, nor prosperity, nor long life. Today, I will fulfill all that he wishes.' ॥ 3-39-29 ॥

[वै] ते शरुत्व शर्व वचनम ऋषयः सत्यवादिनः परहृष्टमनसॊ जग्मुर यथा सवं पुनर आश्रमान ॥ ३-३९-३० ॥
'Vaisampayana continued, “The truth-speaking Rishis, pleased by Mahadeva’s words, rejoiced and then returned to their respective abodes.”' ॥ 3-39-30 ॥
