नाचरिष्यन परे धर्मं परे परतरे चये विप्रलम्भॊ ऽयम अत्यन्तं यदि सयुर अफलाः करियाः ।। ३-३२-२६ ।।

sanskrit

'No one would pursue salvation, seek knowledge, or strive for wealth. People would live like beasts. The practice of virtue across generations relies on the belief that these efforts are meaningful and rewarding.' ।। 3-32-26 ।।

english translation

nAcariSyana pare dharmaM pare paratare caye vipralambhò 'yama atyantaM yadi sayura aphalAH kariyAH || 3-32-26 ||

If acts were truly fruitless, it would lead to great confusion. Why, then, do Rishis, gods, Gandharvas, and Rakshasas—all beings beyond human limitations—cherish virtue so deeply?

फलदं तव इह विज्ञाय धातारं शरेयसि धरुवे धर्मं ते हय आचरन कृष्णे तद्धि धर्मसनातनम ।। ३-३२-२८ ।।

sanskrit

'Understanding that God is the ultimate source of the rewards for virtue, people practice righteousness in this world. This, O Krishna, is the eternal path to prosperity.' ।। 3-32-28 ।।

english translation

phaladaM tava iha vijJAya dhAtAraM zareyasi dharuve dharmaM te haya Acarana kRSNe taddhi dharmasanAtanama || 3-32-28 ||

hk transliteration

स चायं सफलॊ धर्मॊ न धर्मॊ ऽफल उच्यते दृश्यन्ते ऽपि हि विद्यानां फलानि तपसां तथा ।। ३-३२-२९ ।।

sanskrit

'This dharma (duty/righteousness) is indeed fruitful, Dharma is not said to be fruitless. The fruits of knowledge are indeed seen, As are the fruits of austerities.' ।। 3-32-29 ।।

english translation

sa cAyaM saphalò dharmò na dharmò 'phala ucyate dRzyante 'pi hi vidyAnAM phalAni tapasAM tathA || 3-32-29 ||

hk transliteration

तवय्य एतद वै विजानीहि जन्म कृष्णे यथा शरुतम वेत्थ चापि यथा जातॊ धृष्टद्युम्नः परतापवान ।। ३-३२-३० ।।

sanskrit

'Recall, O Krishna, the circumstances of your own birth as you have heard them, and also remember how Dhrishtadyumna, of great prowess, was born.' ।। 3-32-30 ।।

tavayya etada vai vijAnIhi janma kRSNe yathA zarutama vettha cApi yathA jAtò dhRSTadyumnaH paratApavAna || 3-32-30 ||
