सॊमदत्तॊ युयुत्सुश च दरॊणपुत्रस तथैव च पितामहश च नॊ वयासः शमं वदति नित्यशः ॥ ३-३०-४६ ॥

'Somadatta, Yuyutsu, Dronaputra, and our grandsire Vyasa, each of them consistently speaks of peace.' ॥ 3-30-46 ॥

english translation

एतैर हि राजा नियतं चॊद्यमानं शमं परति राज्यं दातेति मे बुद्धिर न चेल लॊभान नशिष्यति ॥ ३-३०-४७ ॥

'A king, being constantly urged by these towards peace, Should give up his kingdom - this is my understanding, unless he perishes due to greed.' ॥ 3-30-47 ॥

english translation

कालॊ ऽयं दारुणः पराप्तॊ भरतानाम अभूतये निश्चितं मे सदैवैतत पुरस्ताद अपि भामिनि ॥ ३-३०-४८ ॥

'O lady, a crisis has arisen in the history of the Bharatas, threatening to plunge them into calamity. This conclusion has been certain to me for some time now.' ॥ 3-30-48 ॥

english translation

सुयॊधनॊ नार्हतीति कषमाम एवं न विन्दति अर्हस तस्याहम इत्य एव तस्मान मां विन्दते कषमा ॥ ३-३०-४९ ॥

'Sujoydhana does not deserve the kingdom; thus, he is incapable of attaining forgiveness. I, on the other hand, am deserving of the sovereignty; therefore, forgiveness has embraced me.' ॥ 3-30-49 ॥

english translation

एतद आत्मवतां वृत्तम एष धर्मः सनातनः कषमा चैवानृशंस्यं च तत कर्तास्म्य अहम अञ्जसा ॥ ३-३०-५० ॥

'Forgiveness and gentleness are the hallmarks of the self-possessed and represent eternal virtues. Therefore, I will sincerely embrace and adopt these qualities.' ॥ 3-30-50 ॥
