हुत्वा शरीरं संग्रामे कृत्वा कर्म सुदुष्करम विजित्य वा परान आजौ यशॊ पराप्स्यामि केवलम ॥ ३-२८४-३६ ॥
'And by duly giving away these gifts to Brahmanas as ordained, by offering up my body in the great sacrifice of battle, by performing deeds that are hard to accomplish, and by vanquishing my enemies in combat— I shall win nothing but lasting renown.' ॥ 3-284-36 ॥
english translation
भीतानाम अभयं दत्त्वा संग्रामे जीवितार्थिनाम वृद्धान बालान दविजातींश च मॊक्षयित्वा महाभयात ॥ ३-२८४-३७ ॥
'And by dispelling, on the field of battle, the fears of the terrified who may plead for their lives, and by rescuing the aged, the young, and the Brahmanas from peril and distress, I shall earn glorious fame and attain the highest heaven.' ॥ 3-284-37 ॥
english translation
पराप्स्यामि परमं लॊके यशः सवर्भानु सूदन जीवितेनापि मे रक्ष्या कीर्तिस तद विद्धि मे वरतम ॥ ३-२८४-३८ ॥
'That fame must be upheld, even at the cost of my life—this, know well, is my sacred vow.' ॥ 3-284-38 ॥
english translation
सॊ ऽहं दत्त्वा मघवते भिक्षाम एताम अनुत्तमाम बराह्मण छद्मिने देवलॊके गन्ता परां गतिम ॥ ३-२८४-३९ ॥
'By giving away such a priceless gift to Maghavan, though he come disguised as a Brahmana, I shall, O radiant one, attain in this world the most exalted state.' ॥ 3-284-39 ॥
