[गौतम] वेदाः साङ्गा मयाधीतास तपॊ मे संचितं महत कौमारं बरह्मचर्यं मे गुरवॊ ऽगनिश च तॊषिताः ॥ ३-२८२-११ ॥

'And Gautama said, "I have studied all the Vedas along with their branches, and have acquired great merit through ascetic practices. From my youth, I have led a life of celibacy, faithfully observing the vow of brahmacharya. I have duly gratified the sacred fire and my preceptors."' ॥ 3-282-11 ॥

english translation

[gautama] vedAH sAGgA mayAdhItAsa tapò me saMcitaM mahata kaumAraM barahmacaryaM me guravò 'ganiza ca tòSitAH ॥ 3-282-11 ॥

समाहितेन चीर्णानि सर्वाण्य एव वरतानि मे वायुभक्षॊपवासश च कुशलानि च यानि मे ॥ ३-२८२-१२ ॥

'With concentrated mind, I have observed all vows, and, as prescribed by sacred ordinance, I have often sustained myself on air alone.' ॥ 3-282-12 ॥

english translation

samAhitena cIrNAni sarvANya eva varatAni me vAyubhakSòpavAsaza ca kuzalAni ca yAni me ॥ 3-282-12 ॥

अनेन तपसा वेद्मि सर्वं परिचिकीर्षितम सत्यम एतन निबॊध तवं धरियते सत्यवान इति ॥ ३-२८२-१३ ॥

'By virtue of this ascetic merit, I am aware of all that is done or intended by others. Therefore, know this for certain—Satyavan lives.' ॥ 3-282-13 ॥

english translation

anena tapasA vedmi sarvaM paricikIrSitama satyama etana nibòdha tavaM dhariyate satyavAna iti ॥ 3-282-13 ॥

[षिस्य] उपाध्यायस्य मे वक्त्राद यथा वाक्यं विनिःसृतम नैतज जातु भवेन मिथ्या तथा जीवति सत्यवान ॥ ३-२८२-१४ ॥

'Thereupon his disciple said, "The words that have fallen from the lips of my preceptor can never be false. Therefore, it is certain—Satyavan lives."' ॥ 3-282-14 ॥

english translation

[Sisya] upAdhyAyasya me vaktrAda yathA vAkyaM viniHsRtama naitaja jAtu bhavena mithyA tathA jIvati satyavAna ॥ 3-282-14 ॥

[रसयह] यथास्य भार्या सावित्री सर्वैर एव सुलक्षणैः अवैधव्य करैर युक्ता तथा जीवति सत्यवान ॥ ३-२८२-१५ ॥

'Therefore, Satyavan surely lives." And the Rishi said, "Considering the auspicious marks that his wife Savitri bears—each one a sign of protection from widowhood—there can be no doubt that Satyavan is alive.' ॥ 3-282-15 ॥

[rasayaha] yathAsya bhAryA sAvitrI sarvaira eva sulakSaNaiH avaidhavya karaira yuktA tathA jIvati satyavAna ॥ 3-282-15 ॥
