[अष्वपति] अपि राजात्मजॊ दाता बरह्मण्यॊ वापि सत्यवान रूपवान अप्य उदारॊ वाप्य अथ वा परियदर्शनः ॥ ३-२७८-१६ ॥
'Aswapati then asked, "Is Prince Satyavān generous in giving, and devoted to the Brahmanas? Is he handsome, noble in spirit, and pleasing to behold?"' ॥ 3-278-16 ॥
english translation
[नारद] साङ्कृते रन्तिदेवस्य स शक्त्या दानतः समः बरह्मण्यः सत्यवादी च शिबिर औशीनरॊ यथा ॥ ३-२७८-१७ ॥
'Narada said, "In giving, according to his means, the mighty son of Dyumatsena rivals Rantideva, the son of Sankriti. In truthfulness and devotion to the Brahmanas, he is like King Sivi, the noble son of Ushīnara."' ॥ 3-278-17 ॥
english translation
ययातिर इव चॊदारः सॊमवत परियदर्शनः रूपेणान्यतमॊ ऽशविभ्यां दयुमत्सेनसुतॊ बली ॥ ३-२७८-१८ ॥
'Magnanimous as Yayati, and lovely as the Moon, he matches the twin Ashvins in beauty — this son of Dyumatsena, strong and fair.' ॥ 3-278-18 ॥
english translation
स दान्तः स मृदुः शूरः स सत्यः स जितेन्द्रियः स मैत्रः सॊ ऽनसूयश च स हरीमान धृतिमांश च सः ॥ ३-२७८-१९ ॥
'With his senses well controlled, he is gentle, courageous, and ever truthful. Subduing passion, he is loyal to his friends, free from envy, modest in conduct, and steadfast in patience.' ॥ 3-278-19 ॥

नित्यशश चार्जवं तस्मिन सथितिस तस्यैव च धरुवा संप्षेपतस तपॊवृद्धैः शीलवृद्धैश च कथ्यते ॥ ३-२७८-२० ॥
'In brief, the sages rich in penance and elders of lofty virtue declare him ever steadfast in righteousness, with honour shining, firm and unshaken, upon his brow.' ॥ 3-278-20 ॥
