[मार्क] एवम एतन महाबाहॊ रामेणामिततेजसा पराप्तं वयसनम अत्युग्रं वनवास कृतं पुरा ॥ ३-२७६-१ ॥

Markandeya said, 'It was thus, O mighty-armed one, that Rama of immeasurable energy had suffered of old such excessive calamity in consequence of his exile in the woods!'' ॥ 3-276-1 ॥

मा शुचः पुरुषव्याघ्र कषत्रियॊ ऽसि परंतप बाहुवीर्याश्रये मार्गे वर्तसे दीप्तनिर्णये ॥ ३-२७६-२ ॥

'O tiger among men, do not grieve, for, O chastiser of foes, thou art a Kshatriya! Thou too treadest the path in which strength of arms is to be put forth—the path that leads to tangible rewards.' ॥ 3-276-2 ॥

english translation

mA zucaH puruSavyAghra kaSatriyò 'si paraMtapa bAhuvIryAzraye mArge vartase dIptanirNaye ॥ 3-276-2 ॥

न हि ते वृजिनं किं चिद दृश्यते परम अण्व अपि अस्मिन मार्गे विषीदेयुः सेन्द्रा अपि सुरासुराः ॥ ३-२७६-३ ॥

'Thou hast not even a particle of sin. Even the celestials, with Indra at their head, and the Asuras have to tread the path that is trod by thee!' ॥ 3-276-3 ॥

na hi te vRjinaM kiM cida dRzyate parama aNva api asmina mArge viSIdeyuH sendrA api surAsurAH ॥ 3-276-3 ॥

संहत्य निहतॊ वृत्रॊ मरुद्भिर वज्रपाणिना नमुचिश चैव दुर्धर्षॊ दीर्घजिह्वा च राक्षसी ॥ ३-२७६-४ ॥

'It was after such afflictions that the wielder of the thunderbolt, aided by the Maruts, slew Vritra, and the invincible Namuchi and the Rakshasi of long tongue!' ॥ 3-276-4 ॥

saMhatya nihatò vRtrò marudbhira vajrapANinA namuciza caiva durdharSò dIrghajihvA ca rAkSasI ॥ 3-276-4 ॥

सहायवति सर्वार्थाः संतिष्ठन्तीह सर्वशः किं नु तस्याजितं संख्ये भराता यस्य धनंजयः ॥ ३-२७६-५ ॥

'He that hath assistance always secures the accomplishment of all his purposes! What is that which cannot be vanquished in battle by him who hath Dhananjaya for his brother?' ॥ 3-276-5 ॥

sahAyavati sarvArthAH saMtiSThantIha sarvazaH kiM nu tasyAjitaM saMkhye bharAtA yasya dhanaMjayaH ॥ 3-276-5 ॥
