अस्ति तव अत्र नलॊ नाम वानरः शिल्पिसंमतः तवष्टुर देवस्य तनयॊ बलवान विश्वकर्मणः ॥ ३-२६७-४१ ॥
'In your army, there is a monkey named Nala, a skilled artisan endowed with great strength. He is the son of Tvashta, the divine architect of the universe.' ॥ 3-267-41 ॥
english translation
स यत काष्ठं तृणं वापि शिलां वा कषेप्स्यते मयि सर्वं तद धारयिष्यामि स ते सेतुर भविष्यति ॥ ३-२६७-४२ ॥
'And whether it be wood, grass, or stone that he throws into my waters, I shall support them on my surface, and thus shall you have a bridge to cross!' ॥ 3-267-42 ॥
english translation
इत्य उक्त्वान्तर्हिते तस्मिन रामॊ नलम उवाच ह कुरु सेतुं समुद्रे तवं शक्तॊ हय असि मतॊ मम ॥ ३-२६७-४३ ॥
'Having spoken these words, the Ocean's genius vanished. Then Rama, awakening, called Nala to him and said, 'Build a bridge over the sea! I am certain that only you have the strength to do so!'' ॥ 3-267-43 ॥

तेनॊपायेन काकुत्स्थः सेतुबन्धम अकारयत दशयॊजनविस्तारम आयतं शतयॊजनम ॥ ३-२६७-४४ ॥
'By this means, the descendant of the Kakutstha lineage had a bridge constructed that was ten Yojanas wide and a hundred Yojanas long.' ॥ 3-267-44 ॥
english translation
नलसेतुर इति खयातॊ यॊ ऽदयापि परथितॊ भुवि रामस्याज्ञां पुरस्कृत्य धार्यते गिरिसंनिभः ॥ ३-२६७-४५ ॥
'To this day, the bridge is celebrated throughout the world by the name of Nala's bridge. After completing it, Nala, whose body was as large as a hill, departed at the command of Rama.' ॥ 3-267-45 ॥
