[मार्क] ततॊ ऽविदूरे नलिनीं परभूतकमलॊत्पलाम सीताहरणदुःखार्तः पम्पां रामः समासदत ॥ ३-२६४-१ ॥
'As Rama grieved over the abduction of Sita, he did not have to journey far before reaching Pampa—a lake abundant with lotuses of many kinds.' ॥ 3-264-1 ॥
english translation
मारुतेन सुशीतेन सुखेनामृत गन्धिना सेव्यमानॊ वने तस्मिञ जगाम मनसा परियाम ॥ ३-२६४-२ ॥
'And as the cool, sweet, and fragrant breezes of the forest fanned him, Rama suddenly remembered his beloved wife. O mighty monarch, filled with sorrow at the thought of his separation from her, he began to lament deeply.' ॥ 3-264-2 ॥
english translation
विललाप स राजेन्द्रस तत्र कान्ताम अनुस्मरन कामबाणाभिसंतप्तः सौमित्रिस तम अथाब्रवीत ॥ ३-२६४-३ ॥
'That king lamented there, remembering his beloved, Scorched by the arrows of desire. Then Saumitri spoke to him.' ॥ 3-264-3 ॥

न तवाम एवंविधॊ भावः सप्रष्टुम अर्हति मानद आत्मवन्तम इव वयाधिः पुरुषं वृद्धशीलिनम ॥ ३-२६४-४ ॥
'O thou who givest due honor to the deserving, such despondency should not approach thee—like an illness that can never afflict an aged man of disciplined life.' ॥ 3-264-4 ॥
english translation
परवृत्तिर उपलब्धा ते वैदेह्या रावणस्य च तां तवं पुरुषकारेण बुद्ध्या चैवॊपपादय ॥ ३-२६४-५ ॥
'You have gained knowledge of Rāvaṇa and the princess of Videha. Now, with effort and wisdom, secure her liberation!' ॥ 3-264-5 ॥
