सा तम आलक्ष्य संप्राप्तं धर्मज्ञा जनकात्मजा निमन्त्रयाम आस तदा फलमूलाशनादिभिः ॥ ३-२६२-३१ ॥
'The virtuous daughter of Janaka, seeing him approach, offered him a seat and respectfully welcomed him with fruits and roots.' ॥ 3-262-31 ॥
english translation
अवमन्य स तत सर्वं सवरूपं परतिपद्य च सान्त्वयाम आस वैदेहीम इति राक्षसपुंगवः ॥ ३-२६२-३२ ॥
'That demon chief (Ravana), disregarding all that (Sita's words), assumed his own form and tried to pacify/console Vaidehi (Sita).' ॥ 3-262-32 ॥
english translation
सीते राक्षसराजॊ ऽहं रावणॊ नाम विश्रुतः मम लङ्का पुरी नाम्ना रम्या पारे महॊदधेः ॥ ३-२६२-३३ ॥
'I am, O Sita, the king of the Rakshasas, known by the name of Ravana! My delightful city, known as Lanka, stands on the other side of the vast ocean.' ॥ 3-262-33 ॥
english translation
तत्र तवं वरनारीषु शॊभिष्यसि मया सह भार्या मे भव सुश्रॊणि तापसं तयज्य राघवम ॥ ३-२६२-३४ ॥
'There, amidst the company of the most beautiful women, thou shalt shine beside me, resplendent in majesty and grace. Forsake this exile in the forest and accept a life of luxury and honor!' ॥ 3-262-34 ॥
english translation
एवमादीनि वाक्यानि शरुत्वा सीताथ जानकी पिधाय कर्णौ सुश्रॊणी मैवम इत्य अब्रवीद वचः ॥ ३-२६२-३५ ॥
'She continued, "I am devoted to my husband, the noble Rama. Never shall I forsake him for thee or any other! Know this and depart at once!"' ॥ 3-262-35 ॥
