जयेष्ठॊ रामॊ ऽभवत तेषां रमयाम आस हि परजाः मनॊहरतया धीमान पितुर हृदयतॊषणः ॥ ३-२६१-६ ॥
'And the wise Rama, the eldest of them all, became his father’s favorite and greatly delighted the people with his charm.' ॥ 3-261-6 ॥
english translation
jayeSThò rAmò 'bhavata teSAM ramayAma Asa hi parajAH manòharatayA dhImAna pitura hRdayatòSaNaH ॥ 3-261-6 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततः स राजा मतिमान मत्वात्मानं वयॊ ऽधिकम मन्त्रयाम आस सविचैर धर्मज्ञैश च पुरॊहितैः ॥ ३-२६१-७ ॥
'Then that wise king, considering himself advanced in age, Consulted with his learned ministers and righteous priests.' ॥ 3-261-7 ॥
english translation
tataH sa rAjA matimAna matvAtmAnaM vayò 'dhikama mantrayAma Asa savicaira dharmajJaiza ca puròhitaiH ॥ 3-261-7 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअभिषेकाय रामस्य यौवराज्येन भारत पराप्तकालं च ते सर्वे मेनिरे मन्त्रसत्तमाः ॥ ३-२६१-८ ॥
'The ministers, the best of counselors, all agreed that the time had come for Rama's coronation and the initiation of his reign as the heir-apparent, O Bharata.' ॥ 3-261-8 ॥

abhiSekAya rAmasya yauvarAjyena bhArata parAptakAlaM ca te sarve menire mantrasattamAH ॥ 3-261-8 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptलॊहिताक्षं महाबाहुं मत्तमातङ्गगामिनम दीर्घबाहुं महॊरस्कं नीलकुञ्चित मूर्धजम ॥ ३-२६१-९ ॥
'And, O scion of the Kuru race, King Dasharatha was greatly pleased to behold his son, the joy of Kausalya, who had red eyes and sinewy arms. His gait was like that of a wild elephant. He had long arms, broad shoulders, and black, curly hair.' ॥ 3-261-9 ॥

lòhitAkSaM mahAbAhuM mattamAtaGgagAminama dIrghabAhuM mahòraskaM nIlakuJcita mUrdhajama ॥ 3-261-9 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptदीप्यमानं शरिया वीरं शक्राद अनवमं बले पारगं सर्वधर्माणां बृहस्पतिसमं मतौ ॥ ३-२६१-१० ॥
'He was valiant, glowing with splendor, and unmatched in battle, even by Indra himself. Well-versed in sacred knowledge, he was equal to Brihaspati in wisdom.' ॥ 3-261-10 ॥
