स तद राजा वचॊ शरुत्वा विप्रियं दारुणॊदयम दुःखार्तॊ भरतश्रेष्ठ न किं चिद वयाजहार ह ॥ ३-२६१-२६ ॥
'Hearing those disagreeable words of cruel import, the king, O chief of the Bharatas, was overcome with sorrow and remained utterly speechless.' ॥ 3-261-26 ॥
english translation
ततस तथॊक्तं पितरं रामॊ विज्ञाय वीर्यवान वनं परतस्थे धर्मात्मा राजा सत्यॊ भवत्व इति ॥ ३-२६१-२७ ॥
'But the mighty and righteous Rama, realizing that his father had been thus bound by his word, departed for the forest so that the king’s truth might remain inviolate.' ॥ 3-261-27 ॥
english translation
तम अन्वगच्छल लक्ष्मीवान धनुष्माँल लक्ष्मणस तदा सीता च भार्या भद्रं ते वैदेही जनकात्मजा ॥ ३-२६१-२८ ॥
'And, blessed be you, the illustrious Lakshmana, that foremost of bowmen, followed him, along with his wife, Sita, the princess of Videha and daughter of Janaka.' ॥ 3-261-28 ॥

ततॊ वगं गते रामे राजा दशरथस तदा समयुज्यत देहस्य कालपर्याय धर्मणा ॥ ३-२६१-२९ ॥
'And after Rama had departed into the forest, King Dasharatha cast off his mortal body, in accordance with the eternal law of time.' ॥ 3-261-29 ॥

रामस तु गतम आज्ञाय राजानं च तथागतम आनाय्य भरतं देवी कैकेयी वाक्यम अब्रवीत ॥ ३-२६१-३० ॥
'Then, realizing that Rama was absent and the king had passed away, Queen Kaikeyi summoned Bharata before her and addressed him in these words.' ॥ 3-261-30 ॥
