[मार्क] ततॊ बरह्मर्षयः सिद्धा देवराजर्षयस तथा हव्यवाहं पुरस्कृत्य बराह्मणं शरणं गताः ॥ ३-२६०-१ ॥
'Markandeya said, "Then the Brahmarshis, Siddhas, and Devarshis, with Havyavaha as their spokesman, sought the protection of Brahma."' ॥ 3-260-1 ॥
english translation
[अग्नि] यः स विश्रवसः पुत्रॊ दशग्रीवॊ महाबलः अवध्यॊ वरदानेन कृतॊ भगवता पुरा ॥ ३-२६०-२ ॥
'And Agni said, "That mighty son of Vishrava, the Ten-headed one, cannot be slain due to the boon granted to him!"' ॥ 3-260-2 ॥
english translation
स बाधते परजा सर्वा विप्रकारैर महाबलः ततॊ नस तरातुभगवन नान्यस तराता हि विद्यते ॥ ३-२६०-३ ॥
'Endowed with great strength, he oppresses all creatures on earth in every possible way. Therefore, O venerable one, protect us! There is none other but you who can safeguard us!' ॥ 3-260-3 ॥
english translation
[बरह्मा] न स देवासुरैः शक्यॊ युद्धे जेतुं विभावसॊ विहितं तत्र यत कार्यम अभितस तस्य निग्रहे ॥ ३-२६०-४ ॥
'Brahma said, "O Agni, he cannot be defeated in battle by either the gods or the Asuras! I have already ordained what is necessary for his downfall."' ॥ 3-260-4 ॥
english translation
तदर्थम अवतीर्णॊ ऽसौ मन्नियॊगाच चतुर्भुजः विष्णुः परहरतां शरेष्ठः स कर्मैतत करिष्यति ॥ ३-२६०-५ ॥
'Indeed, his death is near! At my command, the four-headed God has already incarnated for this purpose. Even Vishnu, the foremost of all destroyers, will accomplish this task!' ॥ 3-260-5 ॥
