[बरह्मा] परीतॊ ऽसमि वॊ निवर्तध्वं वरान वृणुत पुत्रकाः यद यद इष्टम ऋते तव एकम अमरत्वं तथास्तु तत ॥ ३-२५९-२२ ॥
'And the venerable Brahmā said, "I am pleased with you, my sons! Cease now from these austerities and ask for boons. Whatever you desire shall be granted, except for immortality."' ॥ 3-259-22 ॥
