[वै] अथासीनेषु सर्वेषु तेषु राजसु भारत कॊटिकाश्य वचॊ शरुत्वा शैब्यं सौवीरकॊ ऽबरवीत ॥ ३-२५१-१ ॥
'Vaisampayana said: "O Bhārata, Kotikāśya recounted to those waiting princes All that had transpired between him and Kṛṣṇā. Hearing his words, Jayadratha Spoke to that scion of the Sivi race."' ॥ 3-251-1 ॥
english translation
यदा वाचं वयाहरन्त्याम अस्यां मे रमते मनः सीमन्तिनीनां मुख्यायां विनिवृत्तः कथं भवान ॥ ३-२५१-२ ॥
'Having only listened to her speech, My heart has been drawn toward this jewel among women. Why then, hast thou returned empty-handed?' ॥ 3-251-2 ॥
english translation
एतां दृष्ट्वा सत्रियॊ मे ऽनया यथा शाखामृगस्त्रियः परतिभान्ति महाबाहॊ सत्यम एतद बरवीमि ते ॥ ३-२५१-३ ॥
'Truly I tell thee, O mighty-armed one, That having once beheld this lady, All other women now seem to me like mere monkeys.' ॥ 3-251-3 ॥
english translation
दर्शनाद एव हि मनस तया मे ऽपहृतं भृशम तां समाचक्ष्व कल्याणीं यदि सयाच छैब्य मानुषी ॥ ३-२५१-४ ॥
'She has captivated my heart at a single glance. Tell me, O Śaibya, is this excellent lady Indeed of human birth?' ॥ 3-251-4 ॥
english translation
[कॊटि] एषा वै दरौपदी कृष्णा राजपुत्री यशस्विनी पञ्चानां पाण्डुपुत्राणां महिषी संमता भृशम ॥ ३-२५१-५ ॥
'Kotika replied: "This lady is Krishna, the illustrious princess, daughter of King Drupada. She is the highly esteemed wife of the five sons of Pandu."' ॥ 3-251-5 ॥
