ततः सराजा सिन्धूनां वार्द्धक्षत्रिर जयद्रथः विस्मितस ताम अनिन्द्याङ्गीं दृष्ट्वासीद धृष्टमानसः ॥ ३-२४८-११ ॥
'Jayadratha, the king of Sindhu and the son of Vriddhakshatra, struck with amazement at the sight of that lady of flawless beauty, was soon overcome by a wicked desire.' ॥ 3-248-11 ॥
english translation
tataH sarAjA sindhUnAM vArddhakSatrira jayadrathaH vismitasa tAma anindyAGgIM dRSTvAsIda dhRSTamAnasaH ॥ 3-248-11 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस कॊटिकाश्यं राजानम अब्रवीत काममॊहितः कस्य तव एषानवद्याङ्गी यदि वापि न मानुषी ॥ ३-२४८-१२ ॥
'Inflamed with desire, he said to the prince named Kotika, 'Whose is this lady of flawless form? Is she of human origin?' ॥ 3-248-12 ॥
english translation
sa kòTikAzyaM rAjAnama abravIta kAmamòhitaH kasya tava eSAnavadyAGgI yadi vApi na mAnuSI ॥ 3-248-12 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptविवाहार्थॊ न मे कश चिद इमां दृष्ट्वातिसुन्दरीम एताम एवाहम आदाय गमिष्यामि सवम आलयम ॥ ३-२४८-१३ ॥
'I have no need for marriage if I can claim this exquisitely beautiful woman. Taking her with me, I shall return to my abode.' ॥ 3-248-13 ॥

vivAhArthò na me kaza cida imAM dRSTvAtisundarIma etAma evAhama AdAya gamiSyAmi savama Alayama ॥ 3-248-13 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptगच्छ जानीहि सौम्यैनां कस्य का च कुतॊ ऽपि वा किमर्थम आगता सुभ्रूर इदं कण्टकितं वनम ॥ ३-२४८-१४ ॥
'Oh, sir, I will inquire who she is, whence she has come, and why this delicate being has ventured into this thorny forest.' ॥ 3-248-14 ॥

gaccha jAnIhi saumyainAM kasya kA ca kutò 'pi vA kimarthama AgatA subhrUra idaM kaNTakitaM vanama ॥ 3-248-14 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअपि नाम वरारॊहा माम एषा लॊकसुन्दरी भजेद अद्यायतापाङ्गी सुदती तनुमध्यमा ॥ ३-२४८-१५ ॥
'Will this ornament of womankind, this slender-waisted lady of such beauty, endowed with beautiful teeth and large eyes, accept me as her lord?' ॥ 3-248-15 ॥
