ततस तदन्नं रसवत स एव कषुधयान्वितः बुभुजे कृत्स्नम उन्मत्तः परादात तस्मै च मुद्गलः ॥ ३-२४६-१६ ॥

'Overcome by hunger, the frantic sage completely consumed the food that had been offered to him. Thereupon, Mudgala graciously provided him with food once again.' ॥ 3-246-16 ॥

english translation

बुक्ता चान्नं ततः सर्वम उच्छिष्टेनात्मनस ततः अथानुलिलिपे ऽङगानि जगाम च यथागतम ॥ ३-२४६-१७ ॥

'After consuming all the food, he smeared his body with the leftover scraps and departed in the same manner as he had arrived.' ॥ 3-246-17 ॥

english translation

एवं दवितीये संप्राप्ते पर्वकाले मनीषिणः आगम्य बुब्भुजे सर्वम अन्नम उञ्छॊपजीविनः ॥ ३-२४६-१८ ॥

'In this manner, during the next season, he returned and consumed all the food provided by that wise one, who followed the Unchha mode of life.' ॥ 3-246-18 ॥

english translation

निराहारस तु स मुनिर उञ्छम आर्जयते पुनः न चैनं विक्रियां नेतुम अशकन मुद्गलं कषुधा ॥ ३-२४६-१९ ॥

'Then, without partaking in any food himself, the sage Mudgala again focused on collecting alms, adhering to the Unchha mode. Hunger could not disturb his equanimity.' ॥ 3-246-19 ॥

english translation

न करॊधॊ न च मात्सर्यं नावमानॊ न संभ्रमः सपुत्रदारम उञ्छन्तम आविशेश दविजॊत्तमम ॥ ३-२४६-२० ॥

'Neither anger, nor deceit, nor a sense of degradation, nor agitation could enter the heart of that best of Brahmanas, who followed the Unchha mode of life with his wife and son.' ॥ 3-246-20 ॥
