तपसॊ हि परं नास्ति तपसा विन्दते महत नासाध्यं तपसः किं चिद इति बुध्यस्व भारत ॥ ३-२४५-१६ ॥
'Nothing surpasses asceticism, for through asceticism, one attains immense rewards. Know this, O Bharata—there is nothing beyond the reach of asceticism.' ॥ 3-245-16 ॥
english translation
सत्यम आर्जवम अक्रॊधः संविभागॊ दमः शमः अनसूया विहिंसा च शौचम इन्द्रियसंयमः साधनानि महाराज नराणां पुण्यकर्मणाम ॥ ३-२४५-१७ ॥
'Truth, sincerity, freedom from anger, justice, self-control, restraint of the senses, absence of malice, guilelessness, purity, and the discipline of the senses—these, O mighty monarch, elevate and sanctify a person of virtuous deeds.' ॥ 3-245-17 ॥

अधर्मरुचयॊ मूढास तिर्यग्गतिपरायणाः कृच्छ्रां यॊनिम अनुप्राप्य न सुखं विन्दते जनाः ॥ ३-२४५-१८ ॥
'Foolish individuals, devoted to vice and base ways, are reborn into wretched existences and never attain true happiness.' ॥ 3-245-18 ॥

इह यत करियते कर्म तत्परत्रॊपभुज्यते तस्माच छरीरं युञ्जीत तपसा नियमेन च ॥ ३-२४५-१९ ॥
'The results of actions performed in this life are reaped in the next. Therefore, one should discipline the body through asceticism and the observance of vows.' ॥ 3-245-19 ॥

यथाशक्ति परयच्छेच च संपूज्याभिप्रणम्य च काले पात्रे च हृष्टात्मा राजन विगतमत्सरः ॥ ३-२४५-२० ॥
'O king, one should give according to one’s ability, with a pure heart and a cheerful spirit, offering gifts with reverence and humility to a worthy recipient at the right time.' ॥ 3-245-20 ॥
