'Thus, O bull of the Bharata race, the hope of the wicked-minded son of Dhritarashtra to conquer the Pandavas was further strengthened.' ।। 3-240-31 ।।

'Karna, his soul and faculties overtaken by the essence of Naraka, had at that time cruelly resolved to slay Arjuna.' ।। 3-240-32 ।।

karNò 'paya AviSTa cittAtmA narakasyAntara AtmanA arjunasya vadhe karUrAma akaròta sa matiM tadA || 3-240-32 ||

'And, O king, others, with Bhishma, Drona, and Kripa at their head, whose hearts were influenced by the Danavas, became less affectionate towards the sons of Pandu than they had been. However, King Suyodhana did not reveal this to anyone.' ।। 3-240-34 ।।
