[दुर] अजानतस ते राधेय नाभ्यसूयाम्य अहं वचः जानासि तवं जिताञ शत्रून गन्धर्वांस तेजसा मया ॥ ३-२३७-१ ॥
'Duryodhana said, "O Radheya, thou knowest not what hath happened. Therefore, I do not resent thy words. Thou thinkest the hostile Gandharvas to have been vanquished by me with my own energy."' ॥ 3-237-1 ॥
english translation
[dura] ajAnatasa te rAdheya nAbhyasUyAmya ahaM vacaH jAnAsi tavaM jitAJa zatrUna gandharvAMsa tejasA mayA ॥ 3-237-1 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptआयॊधितास तु गन्धर्वाः सुचिरं सॊदरैर ममम मया सह महाबाहॊ कृतश चॊभयतः कषयः ॥ ३-२३७-२ ॥
'O mighty-armed one, my brothers and I, with my assistance, fought against the Gandharvas for a long time. The slaughter on both sides was indeed immense.' ॥ 3-237-2 ॥
english translation
AyòdhitAsa tu gandharvAH suciraM sòdaraira mamama mayA saha mahAbAhò kRtaza còbhayataH kaSayaH ॥ 3-237-2 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमायाधिकास तव अयुध्यन्त यदा शूरा वियद गताः तदा नॊ नसमं युद्धम अभवत सह खेचरैः ॥ ३-२३७-३ ॥
'But when those brave Gandharvas, employing their numerous powers of illusion, ascended into the skies and began to fight with us from there, our encounter with them was no longer an equal one.' ॥ 3-237-3 ॥

mAyAdhikAsa tava ayudhyanta yadA zUrA viyada gatAH tadA nò nasamaM yuddhama abhavata saha khecaraiH ॥ 3-237-3 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपराजयं च पराप्ताः सम रणे बन्धनम एव च सभृत्यामात्य पुत्राश च सदार धनवाहनाः उच्चैर आकाशमार्गेण हरियामस तैः सुदुःखिताः ॥ ३-२३७-४ ॥
'Defeated in battle and captured, with their servants, ministers, sons, wives, and wealth seized, they were deeply distressed, ascending through the sky path by their captors.' ॥ 3-237-4 ॥

parAjayaM ca parAptAH sama raNe bandhanama eva ca sabhRtyAmAtya putrAza ca sadAra dhanavAhanAH uccaira AkAzamArgeNa hariyAmasa taiH suduHkhitAH ॥ 3-237-4 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअथ नः सैनिकाः के चिद अमात्याश च महारथान उपगम्याब्रुवन दीनाः पाण्डवाञ शरणप्रदान ॥ ३-२३७-५ ॥
'It was then that some of our soldiers and brave officers, filled with grief, sought the aid of the sons of Pandu—those heroes who never refuse help to those in need.' ॥ 3-237-5 ॥
