[वै] धृतराष्ट्रं ततः सर्वे ददृशुर जनमेजय पृष्ट्वा सुखम अथॊ राज्ञः पृष्ट्वा राज्ञा च भारत ॥ ३-२२८-१ ॥
'Vaisampayana said, 'Then all of them saw King Dhritarashtra, O Janamejaya, and after inquiring about his well-being, they were in turn asked about their own welfare.'' ॥ 3-228-1 ॥
english translation
ततस तैर विहितः पूर्वं समङ्गॊ नाम बल्लवः समीपस्थास तदा गावॊ धृतराष्ट्रे नयवेदयत ॥ ३-२२८-२ ॥
'Then, a cowherd named Samanga, who had been previously instructed by them, approached the king and spoke to him about the cattle.' ॥ 3-228-2 ॥

अनन्तरं च राधेयः शकुनिश च विशां पते आहतुः पार्थिवश्रेष्ठं धृतराष्ट्रं जनाधिपम ॥ ३-२२८-३ ॥
'Then the son of Radha and Sakuni, O king, addressing Dhritarashtra, that foremost of monarchs, said;' ॥ 3-228-3 ॥

रमणीयेषु देशेषु घॊषाः संप्रति कौरव समारणा समयः पराप्तॊ वत्सानाम अपि चाङ्कनम ॥ ३-२२८-४ ॥
'O Kaurava, our cattle-stations are now in a delightful place. The time has come for their tale, as well as for marking the calves.' ॥ 3-228-4 ॥
english translation
मृगया चॊचिता राजन्न अस्मिन काले सुतस्य ते दुर्यॊधनस्य गमनं तवम अनुज्ञातुम अर्हसि ॥ ३-२२८-५ ॥
'Moreover, O monarch, this is an excellent season for thy son to go hunting! It is, therefore, fitting that you grant permission to Duryodhana to go there.' ॥ 3-228-5 ॥
