सत्रियॊ मानुषमांसादा वृद्धिका नाम नामतः वृक्षेषु जातास ता देव्यॊ नमः कार्याः परजार्थिभिः ॥ ३-२२०-१६ ॥

'Moreover, those who wish to have children must always worship the female spirits, who live on human flesh and are produced in trees.' ॥ 3-220-16 ॥

satriyò mAnuSamAMsAdA vRddhikA nAma nAmataH vRkSeSu jAtAsa tA devyò namaH kAryAH parajArthibhiH ॥ 3-220-16 ॥

एवम एते पिशाचानाम असंख्येया गणाः समृताः घण्टायाः सपताकायाः शृणु मे संभवं नृप ॥ ३-२२०-१७ ॥

'Markandeya continued, "Thus, all the Pisachas are said to be divided into innumerable classes. And now, O king, listen to the origin of the bells and standards of Skanda."' ॥ 3-220-17 ॥

evama ete pizAcAnAma asaMkhyeyA gaNAH samRtAH ghaNTAyAH sapatAkAyAH zRNu me saMbhavaM nRpa ॥ 3-220-17 ॥

ऐरावतस्य घण्टे दवे वैजयन्त्याव इति शरुते गुहस्य ते सवयं दत्ते शक्रेणानाय्य धीमता ॥ ३-२२०-१८ ॥

'Airavata, Indra's elephant, is known to have had two bells named Vaijayanti. The keen-witted Sakra (Indra) had them brought to him, and he personally gave them to Guha (Skanda).' ॥ 3-220-18 ॥

airAvatasya ghaNTe dave vaijayantyAva iti zarute guhasya te savayaM datte zakreNAnAyya dhImatA ॥ 3-220-18 ॥

एका तत्र विशाखस्य घण्टा सकन्दस्य चापरा पताका कार्त्तिकेयस्य विशाखस्य च लॊहिता ॥ ३-२२०-१९ ॥

'Markandeya continued, "Visakha took one of those bells, and Skanda took the other. The standards of both Karttikeya and Visakha were red in color."' ॥ 3-220-19 ॥

ekA tatra vizAkhasya ghaNTA sakandasya cAparA patAkA kArttikeyasya vizAkhasya ca lòhitA ॥ 3-220-19 ॥

यानि करीडनकान्य अस्य देवैर दत्तानि वै तदा तैर एव रमते देवॊ महासेनॊ महाबलः ॥ ३-२२०-२० ॥

'Markandeya continued, "The toys that were given to him by the gods, those were the ones with which the mighty and powerful Mahasena (Skanda) always played."' ॥ 3-220-20 ॥

yAni karIDanakAnya asya devaira dattAni vai tadA taira eva ramate devò mahAsenò mahAbalaH ॥ 3-220-20 ॥
