[मार्क] यदा सकन्देन मातॄणाम एवम एतत परियं कृतम अथैनम अब्रवीत सवाहा मम पुत्रस तवम औरसः ॥ ३-२२०-१ ॥
'Markandeya continued, "When Skanda had bestowed these powers, Swaha appeared before him and spoke, 'You are my true son, born from my own womb.'"' ॥ 3-220-1 ॥
english translation
इच्छाम्य अहं तवया दत्तां परीतिं परमदुर्लभाम ताम अब्रवीत ततः सकन्दः परीतिम इच्छसि कीदृशीम ॥ ३-२२०-२ ॥
'"I desire the supreme and rare joy that you have granted," Swaha said. Skanda replied, "What kind of happiness do you wish to experience?"' ॥ 3-220-2 ॥
english translation
[सवाहा] दक्षस्याहं परिया कन्या सवाहा नाम महाभुज बाल्यात परभृति नित्यं च जातकामा हुताशने ॥ ३-२२०-३ ॥
'Swaha replied: "O mighty one, I am the beloved daughter of Daksha, named Swaha. From my childhood, I have been devoted to Hutasana, the Fire-god."' ॥ 3-220-3 ॥
english translation
न च मां कामिनीं पुत्रसम्यग जानाति पावकः इच्छामि शाश्वतं वासं वस्तुं पुत्र सहाग्निना ॥ ३-२२०-४ ॥
'But that god, my son, does not understand my feelings. I desire to live forever with him (as his wife).' ॥ 3-220-4 ॥
english translation
[सकन्द] हव्यं कव्यं च यत किं चिद दविजा मन्त्रपुरस्कृतम हॊष्यन्त्य अग्नौ सदा देवि सवाहेत्य उक्त्वा समुद्यतम ॥ ३-२२०-५ ॥
'Skanda replied, "From this day forward, all the offerings made by virtuous men, who adhere to the path of righteousness, to their gods or ancestors—accompanied by the purifying hymns of Brahmanas—shall always be offered through Agni, with your name, Swaha, invoked.' ॥ 3-220-5 ॥
