आहुकस्य वचॊ वीर तस्यैव परिचारकः विषण्णः सन्नकण्ठॊ वै तन निबॊध युधिष्ठिरः ॥ ३-२२-११ ॥
'He appeared to be a messenger of Ahuka. With a voice choked with sorrow, he conveyed to me the following words from Ahuka:' ॥ 3-22-11 ॥
english translation
दवारकाधिपतिर वीर आह तवाम आहुकॊ वचः केशवेह विजानीष्व यत तवां पितृसखॊ ऽबरवीत ॥ ३-२२-१२ ॥
'O warrior, hear what Ahuka, the lord of Dwaraka, has said to you! O Kesava, listen to the message from thy father’s friend.' ॥ 3-22-12 ॥
english translation
उपयात्वाद्य शाल्वेन दवारकां वृष्णिनन्दन विषक्ते तवयि दुर्धर्ष हतः शूर सुतॊ बलात ॥ ३-२२-१३ ॥
'O son of the Vrishni lineage, O irresistible one, in your absence today, Salwa has forcefully slain Vasudeva and attacked Dwaraka!' ॥ 3-22-13 ॥
english translation
तद अलं साधु युद्धेन निवर्तस्व जनार्दन दवारकाम एव रक्षस्व कार्यम एतन महत तव ॥ ३-२२-१४ ॥
'Therefore, there is no further need for battle. Cease, O Janardana! Your primary duty now is to defend Dwaraka!' ॥ 3-22-14 ॥

इत्य अहं तस्य वचनं शरुत्वा परमदुर्मनाः निश्चयं नाधिगच्छामि कर्तव्यस्येतरस्य वा ॥ ३-२२-१५ ॥
'Hearing these words, my heart grew heavy, and I was at a loss as to what to do.' ॥ 3-22-15 ॥
