आविशन्ति च यं यक्षाः पुरुषं कालपर्यये उन्माद्यति स तु कषिप्रं जञेयॊ यक्षग्रहस तु सः ।। ३-२१९-५१ ।।

sanskrit

'When the spirit of the Yakshas enters a human being by some accident, he immediately loses his reason, and this spirit is called the Yaksha spirit.' ।। 3-219-51 ।।

english translation

Avizanti ca yaM yakSAH puruSaM kAlaparyaye unmAdyati sa tu kaSipraM jaJeyò yakSagrahasa tu saH || 3-219-51 ||

hk transliteration

अधिरॊहन्ति यं नित्यं पिशाचाः पुरुषं कव चित उन्माद्यति स तु कषिप्रं पैशाचं तं गरहं विदुः ।। ३-२१९-५२ ।।

sanskrit

'And the evil spirit, by whose influence men are constantly tormented by Pisachas, is called the Paishacha spirit.' ।। 3-219-52 ।।

english translation

adhiròhanti yaM nityaM pizAcAH puruSaM kava cita unmAdyati sa tu kaSipraM paizAcaM taM garahaM viduH || 3-219-52 ||

hk transliteration

यस्य दॊषैः परकुपितं चित्तं मुह्यति देहिनः उन्माद्यति स तु कषिप्रं साधनं तस्य शास्त्रतः ।। ३-२१९-५३ ।।

sanskrit

'The man whose mind is demoralized by vices and loses his reason, quickly falls into madness, and his condition must be treated according to the methods prescribed in the Sastras.' ।। 3-219-53 ।।

english translation

yasya dòSaiH parakupitaM cittaM muhyati dehinaH unmAdyati sa tu kaSipraM sAdhanaM tasya zAstrataH || 3-219-53 ||

hk transliteration

वैक्लव्याच च भयाच चैव गॊराणां चापि दर्शनात उन्माद्यति स तु कषिप्रं सत्त्वं तस्य तु साधनम ।। ३-२१९-५४ ।।

sanskrit

'Men also fall into madness due to confusion, fear, or the sight of horrifying things. The cure lies in calming their minds.' ।। 3-219-54 ।।

english translation

vaiklavyAca ca bhayAca caiva gòrANAM cApi darzanAta unmAdyati sa tu kaSipraM sattvaM tasya tu sAdhanama || 3-219-54 ||

hk transliteration

कश चित करीडितु कामॊ वै भॊक्तुकामस तथापरः अभिकामस तथैवान्य इत्य एष तरिविधॊ गरहः ।। ३-२१९-५५ ।।

sanskrit

'There are three types of spirits: some are playful, some are gluttonous, and others are driven by sensual desires.' ।। 3-219-55 ।।
