[मातरस] यास तु ता मातरः पूर्वं लॊकस्यास्य परकल्पिताः अस्माकं तद भवेत सथानं तासां चैव न तद भवेत ।। ३-२१९-१६ ।।

sanskrit

'The mothers replied, 'In times of yore, Brahmi, Maheswari, and others were appointed as the mothers of the world. We, O great god, desire that they be deprived of that honor, and that we be placed in their stead. '' ।। 3-219-16 ।।

english translation

[mAtarasa] yAsa tu tA mAtaraH pUrvaM lòkasyAsya parakalpitAH asmAkaM tada bhaveta sathAnaM tAsAM caiva na tada bhaveta || 3-219-16 ||
