[कन्या] अहं परजापतेः कन्या देवसेनेति विश्रुता भगिनी दैत्यसेना मे सा पूर्वं केशिना हृता ॥ ३-२१३-१६ ॥
'The lady replied, "I am Devasena, the daughter of Prajapati, the lord of all creatures. My sister, Daityasena, was taken by Kesin long ago."' ॥ 3-213-16 ॥
english translation
सहैवावां भगिन्यौ तु सखीभिः सह मानसम आगच्छावेह रत्यर्थम अनुज्ञाप्य परजापतिम ॥ ३-२१३-१७ ॥
'We, along with our attendants, would regularly come to the Manasa mountains for recreation, with the consent of Prajapati.' ॥ 3-213-17 ॥
english translation
नित्यं चावां परार्थयते हर्तुं केशी महासुरः इच्छत्य एनं दैत्यसेना न तव अहं पाकशासन ॥ ३-२१३-१८ ॥
'The great Asura Kesi would daily come to pay his court to us. The leader of the demons, O conqueror of Paka, listened to him, but I did not.' ॥ 3-213-18 ॥
english translation
सा हृता तेन भगवन मुक्ताहं तवद बलेन तु तवया देवेन्द्र निर्दिष्टं पतिम इच्छामि दुर्जयम ॥ ३-२१३-१९ ॥
'As a result, Daityasena was taken away by him. Yet, O illustrious one, you have rescued me with your mighty power. And now, O Lord of the Celestials, I wish that you may choose an invincible husband for me.' ॥ 3-213-19 ॥
english translation
[इन्द्र] मम मातृस्वसेया तवं माता दाक्षायणी मम आख्यातं तव अहम इच्छामि सवयम आत्मबलं तवया ॥ ३-२१३-२० ॥
'To this, Indra replied, "You are my cousin, your mother being the sister of my mother, Dakshayani. Now, I wish to hear you describe your own prowess."' ॥ 3-213-20 ॥
