ततॊ वयॊम महाराज शतसूर्यम इवाभवत शतचन्द्रं च कौन्तेय सहस्रायुत तारकम ॥ ३-२१-३६ ॥
'Then, O mighty king, the sky blazed as if illuminated by a hundred suns, a hundred moons, and countless stars.' ॥ 3-21-36 ॥
english translation
tatò vayòma mahArAja zatasUryama ivAbhavata zatacandraM ca kaunteya sahasrAyuta tArakama ॥ 3-21-36 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततॊ नाज्ञायत तदा दिवारात्रं तथा दिशः ततॊ ऽहं मॊहम आपन्नः परज्ञास्त्रं समयॊजयम ततस तद अस्त्रम अस्त्रेण विधूतं शरतूलवत ॥ ३-२१-३७ ॥
'In that blinding light, it became impossible to discern whether it was day or night, or to distinguish the directions. Bewildered by this, I then drew the Pragnastra from my quiver. This weapon, as light as cotton flakes carried by the wind, was launched with precision.' ॥ 3-21-37 ॥
english translation
tatò nAjJAyata tadA divArAtraM tathA dizaH tatò 'haM mòhama ApannaH parajJAstraM samayòjayama tatasa tada astrama astreNa vidhUtaM zaratUlavata ॥ 3-21-37 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतथा तद अभवद युद्धं तुमुलं लॊमहर्षणम लब्धालॊकश च राजेन्द्र पुनः शत्रुम अयॊधयम ॥ ३-२१-३८ ॥
'A fierce battle ensued, one so intense it would make the hair stand on end. And, O best of monarchs, once the light returned, I resumed the fight with renewed vigor!' ॥ 3-21-38 ॥

tathA tada abhavada yuddhaM tumulaM lòmaharSaNama labdhAlòkaza ca rAjendra punaH zatruma ayòdhayama ॥ 3-21-38 ॥
