[वयध] अनतिक्रमणीया हि बराह्मणा वै दविजॊत्तम शृणु सर्वम इदं वृत्तं पूर्वदेहे ममानघ ॥ ३-२०५-२१ ॥
'The fowler replied, "O virtuous Brahmana, Brahmanas are deserving of my utmost respect. Listen, O sinless one, to this tale from a past life of mine."' ॥ 3-205-21 ॥
english translation
अहं हि बराह्मणः पूर्वम आसं दविज वरात्मज वेदाध्यायी सुकुशलॊ वेदाङ्गानां चपारगः आत्मदॊषकृतैर बरह्मन्न अवस्था पराप्तवान इमाम ॥ ३-२०५-२२ ॥
'O son of an excellent Brahmana, I was once a Brahmana, well-versed in the Vedas, and an accomplished student of the Vedangas. Through my own fault, I have fallen to this degraded state.' ॥ 3-205-22 ॥
english translation
कश चिद राजा मम सखा धनुर्वेदपरायणः संसर्गाद धनुषि शरेष्ठस ततॊ ऽहम अभवं दविज ॥ ३-२०५-२३ ॥
'A certain king, skilled in the science of archery, was my friend; and from his companionship, O Brahmana, I too became proficient in archery.' ॥ 3-205-23 ॥
english translation
एतस्मिन्न एव काले तु मृगयां निर्गतॊ नृपः सहितॊ यॊधमुख्यैश च मन्त्रिभिश च सुसंवृतः ततॊ ऽभयहन मृगांस तत्र सुबहून आश्रमं परति ॥ ३-२०५-२४ ॥
'One day, the king, accompanied by his ministers and followed by his best warriors, set out on a hunting expedition. He slew a great number of deer near a hermitage.' ॥ 3-205-24 ॥
english translation
अथ कषिप्तः शरॊ घॊरॊ मयापि दविजसत्तम ताडितश च मुनिस तेन शरेणानतपर्वणा ॥ ३-२०५-२५ ॥
'I, too, O good Brahmana, discharged a terrible arrow. And a Rishi was struck by that arrow, its head bent outward, causing him to be wounded.' ॥ 3-205-25 ॥
