आनृशंस्यं परॊ धर्मः कषमा च परमं बलम आत्मज्ञानं परं जञानं परं सत्यव्रतं वरतम ।। ३-२०३-४१ ।।

sanskrit

'The most excellent virtue is leniency, and forbearance stands as the greatest of powers. The knowledge of one's spiritual essence is the highest form of knowledge, and truthfulness is the most sacred of duties.' ।। 3-203-41 ।।

english translation

AnRzaMsyaM parò dharmaH kaSamA ca paramaM balama AtmajJAnaM paraM jaJAnaM paraM satyavrataM varatama || 3-203-41 ||

'While telling the truth is beneficial, and understanding the truth is valuable, the greatest good for all beings is known as the ultimate truth.' ।। 3-203-42 ।।

satyasya vacanaM zareyò satyaM jaJAnaM hitaM bhaveta yada bhUtahitama atyantaM tada vai satyaM paraM matama || 3-203-42 ||

'He who performs actions without any desire for reward or blessing, and has dedicated all to the principles of renunciation, is a true Sannyasin and truly wise.' ।। 3-203-43 ।।

yasya sarve samArambhA nirAzIra bandhanAH sadA tavAge yasya hutaM sarvaM sa tayAgI sa ca buddhimAna || 3-203-43 ||

'Since communion with Brahman cannot be directly taught to us, even by our spiritual preceptor—who only provides a hint to the mystery—renunciation of the material world is considered Yoga.' ।। 3-203-44 ।।

yatò na gurura apya enaM cayAvayeda upapAdayana taM vidyAda barahmaNò yògaM viyògaM yògasaMjJitama || 3-203-44 ||
