अत्रापि विधिर उक्तश च मुनिभिर मांसभक्षणे देवतानां पितॄणां च भुङ्क्ते दत्त्वा तु यः सदा यथाविधि यथाश्रद्धं न स दुष्यति भक्षणात ॥ ३-१९९-११ ॥
'In this matter of animal food, the rule laid down by the sages is this: whoever partakes of it after first offering it properly and respectfully to the gods and the manes, is not tainted by the act.' ॥ 3-199-11 ॥
english translation
atrApi vidhira uktaza ca munibhira mAMsabhakSaNe devatAnAM pitRRNAM ca bhuGkte dattvA tu yaH sadA yathAvidhi yathAzraddhaM na sa duSyati bhakSaNAta ॥ 3-199-11 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअमांसाशी भवत्य एवम इत्य अपि शरूयते शरुतिः भार्यां गच्छन बरह्मचारी ऋतौ भवति बराह्मणः ॥ ३-१९९-१२ ॥
'Such a person is not considered to have partaken of animal food, even as a Brahmachari who, having intercourse with his wife during her menstrual period, is still regarded as a true Brahmana, provided he observes the prescribed rites.' ॥ 3-199-12 ॥
english translation
amAMsAzI bhavatya evama itya api zarUyate zarutiH bhAryAM gacchana barahmacArI Rtau bhavati barAhmaNaH ॥ 3-199-12 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसत्यानृते विनिश्चित्य अत्रापि विधिर उच्यते सौदासेन पुरा राज्ञा मानुषा भक्षिता दविज शापाभिभूतेन भृशम अत्र किं परतिभाति ते ॥ ३-१९९-१३ ॥
'After considering the propriety and impropriety of the matter, this rule has been established. King Saudasa, O Brahmana, when cursed, often resorted to consuming human flesh; what is your opinion on this matter?' ॥ 3-199-13 ॥
english translation
satyAnRte vinizcitya atrApi vidhira ucyate saudAsena purA rAjJA mAnuSA bhakSitA davija zApAbhibhUtena bhRzama atra kiM paratibhAti te ॥ 3-199-13 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसवधर्म इति कृत्वा तु न तयजामि दविजॊत्तम पुरा कृतम इति जञात्वा जीवाम्य एतेन कर्मणा ॥ ३-१९९-१४ ॥
'And, O good Brahmana, knowing this to be the result of my own actions, I earn my livelihood from this profession.' ॥ 3-199-14 ॥
english translation
savadharma iti kRtvA tu na tayajAmi davijòttama purA kRtama iti jaJAtvA jIvAmya etena karmaNA ॥ 3-199-14 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसवकर्म तयजतॊ बरह्मन्न अधर्म इह दृश्यते सवकर्म निरतॊ यस तु स धर्म इति निश्चयः ॥ ३-१९९-१५ ॥
'The forsaking of one's own occupation is considered, O Brahmana, to be a sin, while remaining dedicated to one's own profession is, without a doubt, a virtuous act.' ॥ 3-199-15 ॥

savakarma tayajatò barahmanna adharma iha dRzyate savakarma niratò yasa tu sa dharma iti nizcayaH ॥ 3-199-15 ॥
