न लॊके राजते मूर्खः केवलात्म परशंसया अपि चेह मृजा हीनः कृतविद्यः परकाशते ॥ ३-१९८-४६ ॥
'A fool does not become great in this world merely by self-praise, While a learned person shines even without (the need for) acclaim/polish.' ॥ 3-198-46 ॥
english translation
अब्रुवन कस्य चिन निन्दाम आत्मपूजाम अवर्णयन न कश चिद गुणसंपन्नः परकाशॊ भुवि दृश्यते ॥ ३-१९८-४७ ॥
'Without speaking ill of anyone, Without praising oneself, No person of true qualities (virtuous person) Is seen shining/becoming famous in this world.' ॥ 3-198-47 ॥
english translation
विकर्मणा तप्यमानः पापाद विपरिमुच्यते नैतत कुर्यां पुनर इति दवितीयात परिमुच्यते ॥ ३-१९८-४८ ॥
'If one repents for a wrong he has committed, that repentance cleanses him of his sin. The resolve to never repeat the wrong protects him from future sin.' ॥ 3-198-48 ॥
english translation
कर्मणा येन तेनेह पापाद दविज वरॊत्तम एवं शरुतिर इयं बरह्मन धर्मेषु परिदृश्यते ॥ ३-१९८-४९ ॥
'O best of Brahmanas, one can cleanse oneself through expiations prescribed in the scriptures. This, O regenerate one, is the teaching found in the scriptures regarding virtue.' ॥ 3-198-49 ॥
english translation
पापान्य अबुद्ध्वेह पुरा कृतानि; पराग धर्मशीलॊ विनिहन्ति पश्चात धर्मॊ बरह्मन नुदते पूरुषाणां; यत कुर्वते पापम इह परमादात ॥ ३-१९८-५० ॥
'He who, having been virtuous before, commits a sin, or does so unknowingly, can destroy that sin. For virtue, O Brahmana, dispels the sins that arise from ignorance.' ॥ 3-198-50 ॥
