कुवलाश्वस तु नृपतिर धुन्धुमार इति समृतः नाम्ना च गुणसंयुक्तस तदा परभृति सॊ ऽभवत ॥ ३-१९५-३६ ॥

'It was for this reason that the king came to be called Dhundhumara. And indeed, his name was not without meaning, for it was truly fitting.' ॥ 3-195-36 ॥

english translation

kuvalAzvasa tu nRpatira dhundhumAra iti samRtaH nAmnA ca guNasaMyuktasa tadA parabhRti sò 'bhavata ॥ 3-195-36 ॥

एतत ते सर्वम आख्यातं यन मां तवं परिपृच्छसि धौन्धुमारम उपाख्यानं परथितं यस्य कर्मणा ॥ ३-१९५-३७ ॥

'I have now told you everything you asked, O king, namely, all about the person whose actions made the story of Dhundhu's death famous.' ॥ 3-195-37 ॥

english translation

etata te sarvama AkhyAtaM yana mAM tavaM paripRcchasi dhaundhumArama upAkhyAnaM parathitaM yasya karmaNA ॥ 3-195-37 ॥

इदं तु पुन्यम आख्यानं विष्णॊः समनुकीर्तनम शृणुयाद यः स धर्मात्मा पुत्रवांश च भवेन नरः ॥ ३-१९५-३८ ॥

'He who listens to this sacred tale, entwined with the glory of Vishnu, becomes virtuous and is blessed with children.' ॥ 3-195-38 ॥

english translation

idaM tu punyama AkhyAnaM viSNòH samanukIrtanama zRNuyAda yaH sa dharmAtmA putravAMza ca bhavena naraH ॥ 3-195-38 ॥

आयुस्मान धृतिमांश चैव शरुत्वा भवति पर्वसु न व वयाधिभयं किं चित पराप्नॊति विगतज्वरः ॥ ३-१९५-३९ ॥

'By hearing this story on auspicious days, he attains a long life and great prosperity. Freed from all worries, he is no longer afflicted by the fear of illness.' ॥ 3-195-39 ॥

AyusmAna dhRtimAMza caiva zarutvA bhavati parvasu na va vayAdhibhayaM kiM cita parApnòti vigatajvaraH ॥ 3-195-39 ॥
