अन्तरिक्षे विमानानि देवतानां युधिष्ठिर तत्रैव समदृश्यन्त धुन्धुर यत्र महासुरः ॥ ३-१९५-१६ ॥

'And, O Yudhishthira, the celestial chariots could be seen hovering high above the spot where the mighty Asura Dhundhu stood.' ॥ 3-195-16 ॥

english translation

antarikSe vimAnAni devatAnAM yudhiSThira tatraiva samadRzyanta dhundhura yatra mahAsuraH ॥ 3-195-16 ॥

कुवलाश्वस्य धुन्धॊश च युद्धकौतूहलान्विताः देवगन्धर्वसहिताः समवैक्षन महर्षयः ॥ ३-१९५-१७ ॥

'The gods, Gandharvas, and great Rishis, driven by curiosity, gathered to witness the encounter between Dhundhu and Kuvalaswa.' ॥ 3-195-17 ॥

नारायणेन कौरव्य तेजसाप्यायितस तदा स गतॊ नृपतिः कषिप्रं पुत्रैस तैः सर्वतॊदिशम ॥ ३-१९५-१८ ॥

'And, O scion of the Kuru race, King Kuvalaswa, endowed with the divine energy of Narayana, along with his sons, swiftly surrounded the vast sea of sands.' ॥ 3-195-18 ॥

nArAyaNena kauravya tejasApyAyitasa tadA sa gatò nRpatiH kaSipraM putraisa taiH sarvatòdizama ॥ 3-195-18 ॥

अर्णवं खानयाम आस कुवलाश्वॊ महीपतिः कुवलाश्वस्य पुत्रैस तु तस्मिन वै वालुकार्णवे ॥ ३-१९५-१९ ॥

'King Kuvalaswa, accompanied by his sons, began to dig into the sea of sand, in that very sea of sand, the sons of Kuvalaswa worked diligently.' ॥ 3-195-19 ॥

arNavaM khAnayAma Asa kuvalAzvò mahIpatiH kuvalAzvasya putraisa tu tasmina vai vAlukArNave ॥ 3-195-19 ॥

सप्तभिर दिवसैः खात्वा दृष्टॊ धुन्धुर महाबलः आसीद घॊरं वपुस तस्य वालुकान्तर्हितं महत दीप्यमानं यथा सूर्यस तेजसा भरतर्षभ ॥ ३-१९५-२० ॥

'After seven days of excavation by the king’s sons, they finally beheld the mighty Asura Dhundhu. And, O bull of the Bharata race, the massive body of that Asura lay within the sands, radiating with its own energy, like the Sun itself.' ॥ 3-195-20 ॥

saptabhira divasaiH khAtvA dRSTò dhundhura mahAbalaH AsIda ghòraM vapusa tasya vAlukAntarhitaM mahata dIpyamAnaM yathA sUryasa tejasA bharatarSabha ॥ 3-195-20 ॥
