आयुष्मंस तवं मया नित्यं रक्षितव्यस तवयाप्य अहम रक्षितव्यॊ रथी नित्यम इति कृत्वापयाम्य अहम ।। ३-१९-९ ।।

sanskrit

'O, thou who art blessed with longevity, thou shouldst always be protected by me, even as it is my duty to protect thee. Considering that it is essential for the charioteer to safeguard the warrior on the chariot, I am withdrawing thee from the battle.' ।। 3-19-9 ।।

english translation

AyuSmaMsa tavaM mayA nityaM rakSitavyasa tavayApya ahama rakSitavyò rathI nityama iti kRtvApayAmya ahama || 3-19-9 ||
