[वै] एवम उक्तास तु ते पार्था यमौ च पुरुषर्षभौ दरौपद्या कृष्णया सार्धं नमश चक्रुर जनार्दनम ॥ ३-१८८-१ ॥

'Vaisampayana continued, "Thus addressed, the sons of Pritha, along with the mighty twins, and Draupadi, all bowed down in reverence to Janardana, the Supreme Lord."' ॥ 3-188-1 ॥

[vai] evama uktAsa tu te pArthA yamau ca puruSarSabhau daraupadyA kRSNayA sArdhaM namaza cakrura janArdanama ॥ 3-188-1 ॥

स चैतान पुरुषव्याघ्र साम्ना परमवल्गुना सान्त्वयाम आस मानार्हान मन्यमानॊ यथाविधि ॥ ३-१८८-२ ॥

'And that tiger among men, who was deserving of every respect, revered by the sons of Pandu, then consoled them all with words of great sweetness.' ॥ 3-188-2 ॥

sa caitAna puruSavyAghra sAmnA paramavalgunA sAntvayAma Asa mAnArhAna manyamAnò yathAvidhi ॥ 3-188-2 ॥

युधिष्ठिरस तु कौन्तेयॊ मार्कण्डेयं महामुनिम पुनः पप्रच्छ साम्राज्ये भविष्यां जगतॊ गतिम ॥ ३-१८८-३ ॥

'Yudhishthira, the son of Kunti, once more inquired of the great sage Markandeya about the future course of the governance of the Earth.' ॥ 3-188-3 ॥

आश्चर्यभूतं भवतः शरुतं नॊ वदतां वर मुने भार्गव यद्वृत्तं युगादौ परभवाप्ययौ ॥ ३-१८८-४ ॥

'And Yudhishthira said, 'O foremost of all speakers, O Muni of Bhrigu's race, that which we have heard from you about the destruction and rebirth of all things at the end of the Yuga is indeed full of wonder!'' ॥ 3-188-4 ॥

AzcaryabhUtaM bhavataH zarutaM nò vadatAM vara mune bhArgava yadvRttaM yugAdau parabhavApyayau ॥ 3-188-4 ॥

अस्मिन कलियुगे ऽपय अस्ति पुनः कौतूहलं मम समाकुलेषु धर्मेषु किं नु शेषं भविष्यति ॥ ३-१८८-५ ॥

'I am filled with curiosity, O sage, about what will happen in the Kali Age. When morality and virtue come to an end, what, then, will remain?' ॥ 3-188-5 ॥
