[अत्रि] कथितॊ मे महाभागे गौतमेन महात्मना वैन्यॊ धर्मार्थसंयुक्तः सत्यव्रतसमन्वितः ॥ ३-१८३-६ ॥
'Atri replied, 'I have been informed, O virtuous one, by the high-souled Gautama, that Vainya is a righteous prince, steadfast in truth and devoted to the path of virtue.'' ॥ 3-183-6 ॥
english translation
किं तव अस्ति तत्र दवेष्टारॊ निवसन्ति हि मे दविजाः यथा मे गौतमः पराह ततॊ न वयवसाम्य अहम ॥ ३-१८३-७ ॥
'But there are Brahmanas, O virtuous one, who are envious of me. As Gautama has cautioned me, I do not venture there.' ॥ 3-183-7 ॥
english translation
तत्र सम वाचं कल्याणीं धर्मकामार्थ संहिताम मयॊक्ताम अन्यथा बरूयुस ततस ते वै निरर्थकाम ॥ ३-१८३-८ ॥
'There, if I were to speak words that are auspicious, in harmony with righteousness, desire, and wealth, they would interpret them differently. As a result, their words would be of no benefit.' ॥ 3-183-8 ॥
english translation
गमिष्यामि महाप्राज्ञे रॊचते मे वचस तव गाश च मे दास्यते वैन्यः परभूतं चार्थसंचयम ॥ ३-१८३-९ ॥
'I approve of this counsel and shall go there; Vainya will grant me cows and abundant riches.' ॥ 3-183-9 ॥
english translation
[मार्क] एवम उक्त्वा जगामाशु वैन्य यज्ञं महातपः गत्वा च यज्ञायतनम अत्रिस तुष्टाव तं नृपम ॥ ३-१८३-१० ॥
'Markandeya continued, 'Thus speaking, the great ascetic hastened to Vainya's sacrifice. Upon reaching the sacrificial altar, he paid his respects to the king and praised him with sincere and thoughtful words.'' ॥ 3-183-10 ॥
