एवम एव महेष्वास परियवाक्यान महीपते अहिंसा दृश्यते गुर्वी ततश च परियम इष्यते ।। ३-१७८-६ ।।

'Similarly, O mighty king, abstention from harm is deemed more significant than kind speech, and vice versa.' ।। 3-178-6 ।।

'Yudhishthira said, "O serpent, tell me how the journey of an incorporeal being to heaven is understood, how it perceives through the senses, and how it enjoys the immutable fruits of its actions in this world."' ।। 3-178-8 ।।

'The serpent replied, "By his own actions, a man is seen to attain one of three states: the condition of human existence, the life of the heavens, or rebirth in the lower realms of the animal kingdom."' ।। 3-178-9 ।।

'Among these, the person who is diligent, harms no one, and is endowed with charity and other virtues, ascends to heaven upon leaving the world of men.' ।। 3-178-10 ।।

tatra vai mAnuSAla lòkAda dAnAdibhira atandritaH ahiMsArtha samAyuktaiH kAraNaiH savargama aznute || 3-178-10 ||
