[सर्प] नहुषॊ नाम राजाहम आसं पूर्वस तवानघ परथितः पञ्चमः सॊमाद आयॊःपुत्रॊ नराधिप ॥ ३-१७७-६ ॥
'O sinless one (anagha), I am a king named Nahusha I was renowned as the fifth descendant from Soma (Moon), O ruler of men (narādhipa), son of Āyu.' ॥ 3-177-6 ॥
english translation
करतुभिस तपसा चैव सवाध्यायेन दमेन च तरैलॊक्यैश्वर्यम अव्यग्रं पराप्तॊ विक्रमणेन च ॥ ३-१७७-७ ॥
'Through sacrifices, asceticism, Vedic study, self-restraint, and valor, I had secured a lasting dominion over the three worlds.' ॥ 3-177-7 ॥
english translation
तद ऐश्वर्यं समासाद्य दर्पॊ माम अगमत तदा सहस्रं हि दविजातीनाम उवाह शिबिलां मम ॥ ३-१७७-८ ॥
'When I had acquired such dominion, pride overtook me. Thousands of Brahmins were made to carry my palanquin.' ॥ 3-177-8 ॥
english translation
ऐश्वर्यमदमत्तॊ ऽहम अवमन्य ततॊ दविजान इमाम अगस्त्येन दशाम आनीतः पृथिवीपते ॥ ३-१७७-९ ॥
'I insulted those Brahmins, and, O lord of the earth, it is by Agastya's curse that I have been brought to this state!' ॥ 3-177-9 ॥

न तु माम अजहात परज्ञा यावद अद्येति पाण्डव तस्यैवानुग्रहाद राजन्न अगस्त्यस्य महात्मनः ॥ ३-१७७-१० ॥
'O Pandava (Yudhishthira), my wisdom/knowledge has not left me until today, Due to the grace of that great-souled sage Agastya, O King.' ॥ 3-177-10 ॥
