कृतकृत्याः पुनर वर्णा यदि वृत्तं न विद्यते संकरस तत्र नागेन्द्र बलवान परसमीक्षितः ॥ ३-१७७-३१ ॥
'If, after undergoing purification rites, the latter fail to adhere to the rules of proper conduct. O excellent serpent!' ॥ 3-177-31 ॥
english translation
यत्रेदानीं महासर्पसंस्कृतं वृत्तम इष्यते तं बराह्मणम अहं पूर्वम उक्तवान भुजगॊत्तम ॥ ३-१७७-३२ ॥
'Whoever now adheres to the rules of pure and virtuous conduct, I have, in the past, designated as a Brahmana.' ॥ 3-177-32 ॥
english translation
[सर्प] शरुतं विदितवेद्यस्य तव वाक्यं युधिष्ठिर भक्षयेयम अहं कस्माद भरातरं ते वृकॊदरम ॥ ३-१७७-३३ ॥
'The serpent replied, "O Yudhishthira, you are well-versed in all that should be known, and having heard your words, how can I now consume your brother Vrikodara?"' ॥ 3-177-33 ॥
