कथं नु तस्यानाथाया मद विनाशाद भुजंगम अफलास ते भविष्यन्ति मयि सर्वे मनॊरथाः ॥ ३-१७६-३६ ॥
'O serpent, the desires of that helpless one, which were placed in me, will be unfulfilled due to my destruction.' ॥ 3-176-36 ॥
english translation
kathaM nu tasyAnAthAyA mada vinAzAda bhujaMgama aphalAsa te bhaviSyanti mayi sarve manòrathAH ॥ 3-176-36 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptनकुलः सहदेवश च यमजौ गुरुवर्तिनौ मद्बाहुबलसंस्तब्धौ नित्यं पुरुषमानिनौ ॥ ३-१७६-३७ ॥
'And Nakula and Sahadeva, endowed with manliness, who followed their elder brother (me) and were always protected by the strength of my arms .' ॥ 3-176-37 ॥
english translation
nakulaH sahadevaza ca yamajau guruvartinau madbAhubalasaMstabdhau nityaM puruSamAninau ॥ 3-176-37 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptनिरुत्साहौ भविष्येते भरष्टवीर्यपराक्रमौ मद विनाशात परिद्यूनाव इति मे वर्तते मतिः ॥ ३-१७६-३८ ॥
'As a result of my fall, they will be deprived of their prowess, their spirits crushed, and stricken with grief. This, I believe, will be their fate.' ॥ 3-176-38 ॥
english translation
nirutsAhau bhaviSyete bharaSTavIryaparAkramau mada vinAzAta paridyUnAva iti me vartate matiH ॥ 3-176-38 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएवंविधं बहु तदा विललाप वृकॊदरः भुजंगभॊग संरुद्धॊ नाशकच च विचेष्टितुम ॥ ३-१७६-३९ ॥
'Thus did Vrikodara lament deeply, unable to exert himself, for he was bound by the snake's coils.' ॥ 3-176-39 ॥

evaMvidhaM bahu tadA vilalApa vRkòdaraH bhujaMgabhòga saMruddhò nAzakaca ca viceSTituma ॥ 3-176-39 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयुधिष्ठिरस तु कौन्तेय बभूवास्वस्थ चेतनः अनिष्ट दर्शनान घॊरान उत्पातान परिचिन्तयन ॥ ३-१७६-४० ॥
'On the other hand, Yudhishthira, the son of Kunti, seeing and reflecting on the dreadful omens, became alarmed.' ॥ 3-176-40 ॥
