ततॊ ऽबरवीद वायुसुतस तरस्वी; जिष्णुश च राजानम उपॊपविश्य यमौ च वीरौ सुरराजकल्पाव; एकान्तम आस्थाय हितं परियं च ।। ३-१७३-६ ।।

sanskrit

'Then, seated before the king, the mighty son of the Wind-god, accompanied by Jishnu and the heroic twins—resembling the lord of the celestials—earnestly addressed the king with words that were both beneficial and pleasing.' ।। 3-173-6 ।।

english translation

tatò 'baravIda vAyusutasa tarasvI; jiSNuza ca rAjAnama upòpavizya yamau ca vIrau surarAjakalpAva; ekAntama AsthAya hitaM pariyaM ca || 3-173-6 ||

'O King of the Kurus, it is solely to uphold your promise and further your interests that we refrain from leaving the forest to slay Suyodhana and all his followers together.' ।। 3-173-7 ।।

tava paratijJAM kururAjasatyAM; cikIrSamANAsa tavada anu pariyaM ca tatò 'nugacchAma vanAya apAsya; suyòdhanaM sAnucaraM nihantuma || 3-173-7 ||

'Though deserving of happiness, we have been denied it, living in the forest for these eleven years. Yet, hereafter, by deceiving that one of wicked mind and character, we shall effortlessly complete the period of incognito exile.' ।। 3-173-8 ।।

'At your command, O monarch, and free from fear, we have been wandering the forests, having renounced our honor. Though they may be tempted by our proximity, they will not believe that we have moved to a distant land.' ।। 3-173-9 ।।

tavAjJayA pArthiva nirvizaGkA; vihAya mAnaM vicarana vanAni samIpavAsena vilòbhitAsa te; jaJAsyanti nAsmAna apakRSTa dezAna || 3-173-9 ||

'After living there undiscovered for a year and exacting our revenge on the wicked Suyodhana and his followers, we shall easily destroy that vile man, slay him, and reclaim our kingdom.' ।। 3-173-10 ।।

saMvatsaraM taM tu vihRtya gUDhaM; narAdhamaM taM sukhama uddharema niryAtya vairaM saphalaM sapuSpaM; tasmai narendrAdhamapUruSAya || 3-173-10 ||
