ततॊ ऽहं शरजालेन दिव्यास्त्रमुदितेन च नयगृह्णं सह दैतेयैस तत पुरं भरतर्षभ ॥ ३-१७०-२६ ॥
'At this, O slayer of foes, I assailed that mighty city, which moved at will and resembled Amaravati. O best of the Bharatas, I attacked the city, inhabited by the sons of Diti, with a multitude of shafts, wielding celestial weapons.' ॥ 3-170-26 ॥
english translation
tatò 'haM zarajAlena divyAstramuditena ca nayagRhNaM saha daiteyaisa tata puraM bharatarSabha ॥ 3-170-26 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptविक्षतं चायसैर बाणैर मत परयुक्तैर अजिह्मगैः महीम अभ्यपतद राजन परभग्नं पुरम आसुरम ॥ ३-१७०-२७ ॥
'And struck and shattered by the straight-flying iron shafts shot by me, the city of the Asuras, O king, crashed to the earth.' ॥ 3-170-27 ॥
english translation
vikSataM cAyasaira bANaira mata parayuktaira ajihmagaiH mahIma abhyapatada rAjana parabhagnaM purama Asurama ॥ 3-170-27 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptते वध्यमाना मद्बाणैर वज्रवेगैर अयस्मयैः पर्यभ्रमन्त वै राजन्न असुराः कालचॊदिताः ॥ ३-१७०-२८ ॥
'O King, those demons (asuras), impelled by fate/death (kala), wandered about aimlessly when struck by my iron arrows that had the speed/force of thunderbolts.' ॥ 3-170-28 ॥

te vadhyamAnA madbANaira vajravegaira ayasmayaiH paryabhramanta vai rAjanna asurAH kAlacòditAH ॥ 3-170-28 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततॊ मातलिर अप्य आशु पुरस्तात्ल निपतन्न इव महीम अवातरत कषिप्रं रथेनादित्यवर्चसा ॥ ३-१७०-२९ ॥
'Wounded by my iron arrows, swift as thunder, they, urged by destiny, began to wander, O monarch. Then, Matali, as though falling from the sky, swiftly descended to the earth on a chariot resplendent like the sun. ' ॥ 3-170-29 ॥

tatò mAtalira apya Azu purastAtla nipatanna iva mahIma avAtarata kaSipraM rathenAdityavarcasA ॥ 3-170-29 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततॊ रथसहस्राणि षष्टिस तेषाम अमर्षिणाम युयुत्सूनां मया सार्धं पर्यवर्तन्त भारत ॥ ३-१७०-३० ॥
'Following this, O Bharata, I was surrounded by sixty thousand chariots of the enraged warriors, eager for battle.' ॥ 3-170-30 ॥
