[अर्ज] ततः परविश्य नगरं दानवांश च निहत्य तान पुनर मातलिना सार्धम अगच्छं देव सद्म तत ॥ ३-१७०-१ ॥
'Arjuna continued, 'While returning, I beheld a magnificent, ethereal city, shifting at will, and radiating with the brilliance of fire or the sun.'' ॥ 3-170-1 ॥
english translation
दरुमै रत्नमयैश चैत्रैर भास्वरैश च पतत्रिभिः पौलॊमैः कालकेयैश च नित्यहृष्टैर अधिष्ठितम ॥ ३-१७०-२ ॥
'It was adorned with trees made of precious gems, shining with bright flowers and inhabited by birds of radiant plumage, always filled with joy, and perpetually governed by the forces of time.' ॥ 3-170-2 ॥
english translation
गॊपुराट्टालकॊपेतं चतुर्द्वारं दुरासदम सर्वरत्नमयं दिव्यम अद्भुतॊपमदर्शनम दरुमैः पुष्पफलॊपेतैर दिव्यरत्नमयैर वृतम ॥ ३-१७०-३ ॥
'[It was] furnished with watchtowers and ramparts, having four gates, difficult to approach/conquer, Made of all kinds of jewels, divine, of wondrous appearance, Surrounded by trees bearing flowers and fruits, made of divine jewels.' ॥ 3-170-3 ॥

था पतत्रिभिर दिव्यैर उपेतं सुमनॊहरैः असुरैर नित्यमुदितैः शूलर्ष्टि मुसलायुधैः चापमुद्गर हस्तैश च सरग्विभिः सर्वतॊवृतम ॥ ३-१७०-४ ॥
'The city was inhabited by extraordinarily beautiful, otherworldly birds. It was constantly teeming with joyful Asuras, adorned with garlands and wielding darts, double-edged swords, maces, bows, and clubs.' ॥ 3-170-4 ॥

तद अहं परेक्ष्य दैत्यानां पुरम अद्भुतदर्शनम अपृच्छं मातलिं राजन किम इदं दृश्यतेति वै ॥ ३-१७०-५ ॥
'And, O King, upon seeing this marvelous city of the Daityas, I asked Matali, 'What is this wondrous sight I behold?'' ॥ 3-170-5 ॥
