तस्मिन निपतिते वीरे गदा नुन्ने महासुरे परविश्य महतीं सेनां यॊधयाम आस मे सुतः ॥ ३-१७-२१ ॥
'Seeing Vegavat slain, my son plunged into the midst of the formidable host and engaged in battle with all.' ॥ 3-17-21 ॥

चारुदेष्णेन संसक्तॊ विविन्ध्यॊनाम दानवः महारथः समाज्ञातॊ महाराज महाधनुः ॥ ३-१७-२२ ॥
'And, O great king, a renowned Danava named Vivindhya, a mighty warrior wielding a powerful bow, faced Charudeshna.' ॥ 3-17-22 ॥

ततः सुतुमुलं युद्धं चारुदेष्ण विविन्ध्ययॊः वृत्रवासवयॊ राजन यथापूर्वं तथाभवत ॥ ३-१७-२३ ॥
'The clash between Charudeshna and Vivindhya was as fierce as the ancient battle between Vritra and Vasava.' ॥ 3-17-23 ॥

अन्यॊन्यस्याभिसंक्रुद्धाव अन्यॊन्यं जघ्नतुः शरैः विनदन्तौ महाराज सिंहाव इव महाबलौ ॥ ३-१७-२४ ॥
'The combatants, fierce and enraged, shot arrows at each other with roars, akin to two powerful lions.' ॥ 3-17-24 ॥

रौक्मिणेयस ततॊ बाणम अग्न्यर्कॊपम वर्चसम अभिमान्त्र्य महास्त्रेण संदधे शत्रुनाशनम ॥ ३-१७-२५ ॥
'Then, the son of Rukmini strung a formidable weapon on his bow—its radiance like that of fire or the sun and capable of vanquishing all foes—after first empowering it with incantations.' ॥ 3-17-25 ॥
