सपर्धमाना इवास्माभिर निवातकवचा रणे शरवर्षैर महद्भिर मां समन्तात परत्यवारयन ॥ ३-१६७-१६ ॥
'While other Nivata-Kavachas, challenged by us in battle and harassed by my shafts, opposed me with mighty showers of arrows.' ॥ 3-167-16 ॥

ततॊ ऽहं लघुभिश चैत्रैर बरह्मास्त्र परिमन्त्रितैः वयधमं सायकैर आशु शतशॊ ऽथ सहस्रशः ॥ ३-१६७-१७ ॥
'Thereupon, with hundreds and thousands of swift weapons, infused with the Brahmastra mantras, I swiftly began to strike them down.' ॥ 3-167-17 ॥

ततः संपीड्यमानास ते करॊधाविष्टा महासुराः अपीडयन मां सहिताः शरशूलासि वृष्टिभिः ॥ ३-१६७-१८ ॥
'Pressed hard by me, the mighty asuras, enraged, afflicted me together by showering torrents of clubs, darts, and swords.' ॥ 3-167-18 ॥

ततॊ ऽहम अस्त्रम आतिष्ठं परमं तिग्मतेजसम दयितं देवराजस्य माधवं नाम भारत ॥ ३-१६७-१९ ॥
'Then, O Bharata, I took up that favorite weapon of Maghavan, the lord of the celestials.' ॥ 3-167-19 ॥

ततः खड्गांस तरिशूलांश च तॊमरांश च सहस्रशः अस्त्रवीर्येण शतधा तैर मुक्तान अहम अच्छिनम ॥ ३-१६७-२० ॥
'Prime and of fiery energy, and by the power of that weapon, I cut into a thousand pieces the tomaras, along with the swords and tridents hurled by them.' ॥ 3-167-20 ॥
